College of Nursing Student Council (CONSC)

Mission

The College of Nursing Student Council (CONSC) shall serve as the representative body for all students of the Rush University College of Nursing. The CONSC shall facilitate communication between students and administration in order to convey student concerns, foster cooperation between students and faculty, and facilitate interdisciplinary communication. The CONSC will maintain high academic standards and serve the general welfare of the College of Nursing, Rush University, and the Rush University Medical Center community.  It is the duty of CONSC Board to encourage the continued role of participation of graduates in the Rush community, to engage the ideas of the students, faculty, and staff in supporting, planning, and creating events and programs that encourage and enhance College of Nursing student, faculty, and staff communication.

The Nurses Alumni Fund (NAF) grant is available each term to all College of Nursing students who have plans to attend or present at a professional or scholarly conference.  A maximum of $1000 may be awarded to recipients for state or regional meetings, and a maximum of $1500 for national or international meetings. The total amount awarded is dependent on the total number of applicants and the availability of funds. The Nursing Alumni Fund is a set of funds that are granted to the College of Nursing every term by the generous alumnus of Rush. The College of Nursing uses these funds to help cover the costs of attending or presenting at conferences, whether they are regional or international. The funding and application are open to all nursing students. As the faculty of CON and the alumni are invested in student contributions towards these conferences, we would love to see how these conferences have benefited the student and furthered their professional goals! The College of Nursing Dean's Fund grant is offered on a termly basis.  Please contact CONSC@rush.edu for more information on the deadline. All applications will be reviewed together, and in the event that the grant recipient's conference occurs before notification, any money received will serve as a reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs that the student has already paid.
