Rush University is the academic enterprise of Rush University Medical Center, an Illinois non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has an educational, research and clinical mission. Each component of the mission of Rush University Medical Center is co-equal in importance, and this tripartite mission allows academics and research to be fully integrated with clinical practice, providing an educational experience built around a teacher-practitioner model in order to train the next generation of health care professionals and providers while promoting a research environment that goes hand in hand with clinical excellence.

Located on the Rush University Medical Center campus in the heart of the Illinois Medical District, Rush University offers more than 40 degree and certificate programs across medicine, nursing, allied health and biomedical research; more than 60 postgraduate training programs for medical residents and fellows; and continuing education options.

Our mission

Founded in 1972, Rush University educates more than 2,700 students both on campus and online, representing 18 countries. And we continue to expand to meet their learning needs.

In addition, we train more than 700 medical residents and fellows. And we have an alumni network that includes more than 16,000 people around the world.
