Mission
The mission of White Coats for Black Lives is to dismantle racism in medicine and promote the health, well-being, and self-determination of Black and Indigenous people, and other people of color. We advocate for racial justice in our communities by organizing direct action campaigns and demand our administration be held accountable for taking concrete steps toward anti-racism through curricular reform, improved recruitment and support for BIPOC students and staff, and providing equal access to medical care for all patients. We will create a Racial Justice Report Card to evaluate our university’s commitment to these principles and host weekly meetings to educate ourselves on the history and current manifestations of racism in medicine, principles of anti-racism, and strategies for dismantling structural racism. Additionally, we will provide support for local and national movements to end racism and police brutality.
