Myth: The Center for Clinical Wellness is not as good as the former University Counseling Center.

Busted: In 2018, the American College Health Association (ACHA) performed an on-site review of Rush University services, including the University Counseling Center. The transition to the Center for Clinical Wellness is directly in line with these recommendations.

The Center for Clinical Wellness directly incorporated these recommended best practices to benefit students. These include:

  • an expansion of the hours of operation from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (University Counseling Center) to 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (Center for Clinical Wellness)
  • an emphasis on convenience and privacy demonstrated through an automated, online booking system with text message and email confirmation as well as telehealth capabilities
  • a specially designed space with a one-way entry/exit and private waiting area that minimizes visibility to promote privacy
