Upon receiving a message that a bomb has been planted
- Record Ccaller ID number/location, if possible. Follow bomb threat procedures. Ask where and when the bomb is to be detonated. How?
- Call Rush Security using a phone other than cellular or two-way radio (i.e., regular landline).
- Make visual check of area.
- Report suspicious objects to Rush Security.
If suspicious device is found
- Do not touch or move.
- Secure area, preserve scene and be aware of the possibility of more bombs.
- Evacuate area.
- Call Rush Security.
Evacuation procedures
- Leave doors and windows open.
- Follow the designated evacuation plan.
- Do not re-enter buildings until declared safe by Rush Security and/or local police.
If a bomb is detonated
- Call Rush Security.
- Respond to injured persons.
- Secure area, preserve scene and be aware of the possibility of more bombs.
- Calm and steady the evacuated persons.
Immediately cease all two-way radio and cell phone use. Do not use any type of transmitting device.
Suspicious mail
- Do not move mail.
- Call Rush Security immediately.
- Secure area (room) where letter is located.
- If suspected letter/package bomb, follow bomb and related evacuation procedures.
- Biological (i.e., anthrax): isolate anyone possibly exposed.
- Decontaminate self (wash hands, etc.), if possible.
