How to Submit a Concept Proposal with GLN
Thank you for your interest in applying for a research project in collaboration with the Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Great Lakes Node (GLN). This is a general introduction to the proposal process. The GLN staff will provide you with specific instructions and requirements as concept development continues.
Types of Collaboration
- Small scale CTN projects are approximately 1-2 year endeavors. These projects can include: observational/epidemiological studies, ancillary studies to large-scale CTN projects, secondary data analyses. Please contact one of GLN’s PIs to initiate collaboration. Formal concept proposal is required, the GLN staff will send you application instructions.
- Large-scale CTN projects are typically multisite clinical trials or large health system intervention projects and last more than 2 years. Please contact one of the GLN’s PIs to initiate collaboration. Formal concept proposal is required, the GLN staff will send you application instructions.
Initial Steps
- Develop your project background and aims. Keep this step short and concise – no more than half a page.
- Send the project proposal to Drs. Karnik or Sorrell and then schedule a time for a brief call. If you need assistance in scheduling a time with a GLN PI please contact the GLN staff.
- Dr. Karnik and Dr. Sorrell will work with you to align the project idea to expertise within the GLN and then map out how to move the project forward to the next stage.
Next Steps
After you have completed the initial steps and upon approval of the GLN submission team, you are ready to begin formal development of your concept proposal. Specific instructions regarding format and content for CTN research study concepts are available through the GLN staff.
