Tanya R. Sorrell, PhD, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Tanya Sorrell is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, and Assistant Director of the Great Lakes NIH NIDA Clinical Trials Network node, recently joining Rush University from the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, College of Nursing. Her doctoral training is in rural and urban underserved Mental Health and Substance use services research, with a minor in Complementary and Integrative Behavioral Health practices for Latino groups. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and French, she helped to develop and taught a graduate nursing course in Cultural Competence in Psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for all CU F/Psych NPs, and provided course content/lectures to other RN/NP students in mental health and cultural competency throughout the CON curricula. Her clinical and education work led to state and national accolades as she serves on national SAMHSA committees for Cultural Competence in Nursing Care and the SAMHSA Minority Fellowship Program Advisory Group. She is a consultant and the past PI of a $5 million state-wide Colorado Legislative funded Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Services Program, a project to increase substance use treatment services with 40 agencies in 17 rural Colorado counties. They’ve served over 1500 clients so far, and have amended their services with creative strategies to reach clients during COVID-19. New clinical research at Rush will include improving Latino health outcomes through cultural care strategies for Substance Use Treatment. Her publication record reflects her interests in increasing cultural humility behavioral outcomes in graduate clinical providers and translational research interests in behavioral health care and services utilization using culturally- based approaches to improve the overall behavioral health/substance outcomes of rural/urban under-served populations.
Candice Cooper, BS
Candice Cooper serves as the Senior Project Manager within the section of Community Behavioral Health, providing grants and contract management, as well as financial portfolio administration in the Department of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center. A graduate of Northwestern University, she received a bachelor of science degree in Psychology and is currently a candidate in Northwestern’s Master of Project Management (MPM) program which provides functional concepts of business management and behavioral science to apply to prospective leadership and current project activities. She supports research and philanthropic initiatives by establishing project infrastructure. Ledger health and assessing balance between the project scope and institutional dialogue are her priorities as well as building and maintaining communication with partner organizations. Her training and prior experience in operational development, finance, enhancing clinical directives and medical management aids in developing these collaborations.
Randy A. Boley, BA
Randy A. Boley is the Manager of Research Operations in the Department of Psychiatry, Section of Community Behavioral Health at Rush University Medical Center. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) where he majored in Psychology and conducted research focused on trauma and rehabilitation. With six years of regulatory, study based and statistical research experience in hand, he works with diverse teams interdepartmentally as well as the lead for study principles related to the Great Lakes Node Clinical Trials Network. His interest in data analytics, statistical analysis and epidemiology assist in setting training standards, research guidelines, drafting functions of study protocols and enhance his experience in healthcare compliance.
LaNyah Bassett Warack, BA
LaNyah Bassett Warack is the Program Coordinator for the Westside Behavioral Health Initiative, in the Department of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art, Entertainment & Media Management from Columbia College. She coordinates community-based behavioral programmatic activities, manages program-related internal and external communications and organizes and maintains the program agenda. Prior experience implementing research objectives, and coordinating administrative objectives has peaked her interest in public administration.
