The Division of Behavioral Sciences has a large teaching footprint at Rush University, training doctoral psychology students, postdoctoral psychology fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals.
Psychology residency/internship
The psychology residency (doctoral internship) is a one-year, American Psychological Association-accredited, full-time training program that fulfills the doctoral internship requirement for doctoral programs in health services psychology.
Psychology postdoctoral fellowships
A number of postdoctoral fellowships in psychology are available in the Division of Behavioral Sciences, and additional fellowships are available in other sections of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Additional details on psychology training opportunities, including postdoctoral fellowships, are available on our psychology training website.
Rush Medical College curriculum
Our faculty members teach patient communication skills to first- and second-year students in Rush Medical College as part of the integrated preclerkship curriculum. The communication skills curriculum offers intensive training, high-fidelity simulation and feedback for an increasingly complex series of behavioral tasks required of emerging physicians. Faculty members are also increasingly engaged in scholarship related to these activities, as well as other aspects of medical education.
Physician Assistant training in Behavioral Health
The Behavioral Sciences Division trains students in the Physician Assistant Program in their month-long Behavioral Health rotation.
