Assessment of Disclosed Activities

Managing Conflicts

Based on an individual’s role with RUSH, one or more COI Committee(s) will review and evaluate a disclosure and may determine the necessary action in order to manage, reduce and/or eliminate an individual and/or institutional interest.

The COI committee(s) will determine the significance of the activity and the scope of the individual’s discretion related to objectivity and issue a management plan, if a situation has the appearance, potential or is an actual COI. Transparency about conflicts of interest allows everyone (including patients, students, and the public) to consider whether a particular relationship may influence an individual’s actions.

The COI Committee(s) may also determine that a conflict does not exist but may reiterate the requirement to disclose relationships in a timely manner through communication such as an Advisory Letter.
