The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is a two-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited (ACGME) program offering specialized training in the biopsychosocial comprehensive care of children and adolescents with a wide range of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our training spans several sites including:

- Chicagoland school systems
- Therapeutic Schools
- Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital

Clinical experiences cover the full continuum of care, including inpatient, residential, outpatient, chemical dependence, juvenile detention center, clinical research, school consultative services in both general education and therapeutic day schools, and forensic experiences in custody evaluations and court trials. How to Apply
Rush University recruits two fellows per year for the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Eligibility
- You must have completed your internship and at least two years of general psychiatry residency in an ACGME –accredited program or in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited program
- You may apply to the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship after July of your PGY3 or PGY4 for acceptance into our program for the following year
Application Submission

- Personal statement
- Medical school transcript
- Program Director letter of recommendation with the attestation form that includes status of your clinical skills verification examinations
- U.S. Medical Licensing Examination I, II and III results
- Curriculum vitae
- Three letters of reference
- Licensure verification
- International graduates: Please include documentation of successful completion of the language skills exam (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates Certificate)

Interview Process
We will begin reviewing and screening application files as soon as they are completed and begin offering interviews in late August. Due to COVID precautions our interview process has been modified and will be conducted virtually on Fridays in October and November. If you receive an invitation to interview, please reply as soon as possible to arrange an interview date since the days can fill quickly.
