In the interest of Resident Wellness, the department has not only followed ACGME rules with duty hours but has also mandated that call be spread out throughout the rotation to avoid any issues with Wellness. The far majority of their call is 'home call.' To avoid any issues with fatigue, residents who take 'home call' are not allowed to take overnight call for at least another 24 hours.
Residents are required to take call at Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation throughout residency with decreasing requirement as they become more senior residents. All of the calls are organized to be limited to primarily when they are on the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation rotation itself
During the weekday, residents share responsibility of taking “Home Call” answering pages from home. The residents never have to come into the hospital from home as there is a nocturnist available to address any situations that require a face-to-face assessment
On Saturday and Sunday, residents provide 12 hour "In House” call from 7am to 7pm after which they take 'Home Call' similar to the left
Residents taking Weekend Call are given $20 towards a meal
