Welcome to the RUSH University Medical Center Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program. I am delighted that you are contemplating a career in such an interesting and rewarding field and that you are considering our program. I hope the information you find on this site will help you envision what this training program has to offer.
This fellowship program was born out of my passion for medical education and dedication to providing comprehensive training for future neonatologists. I designed this ACGME-accredited program with you – the trainee – in mind. As such, the program focuses on fellows’ education and training and includes a broad array of clinical and educational experiences, as well as opportunities for leadership and advocacy.
The program is unique in that it includes rotations in important specialty areas that are pertinent to neonatal-perinatal medicine, such as maternal-fetal medicine and radiology. Fellows rotate in the Fetal and Neonatal Medicine Center where they participate in the multidisciplinary antenatal counseling of families whose pregnancies are affected by fetal complications. Over the three-year training period, fellows participate in the post-NICU developmental care of high-risk neonates in the High-Risk Follow-Up Clinic. Another unique feature of our program is its diversity – that of the patients, and our own faculty. We serve patients of a variety of racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, with a wide spectrum of diseases. Our faculty is a diverse group with a broad array of unique research and life interests and experiences.
Additionally, I want to emphasize the camaraderie that is present in the NICU, and our Division – an important characteristic of any program, and an important consideration for prospective trainees. Our Division relies on and thrives on collaboration between all interdisciplinary team members in providing excellent patient care, while supporting a collaborative and engaging learning environment for all. I am confident that you will receive outstanding clinical and research training in a supportive environment aimed to help you thrive.
I invite you to review our website and learn about this exciting program. I hope you are inspired by its unique attributes, and that you recognize the role you will play in helping to shape its future.
Sincerely,
