Advanced Practice Providers

What’s Important for APPs to Know?

Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Open Payments (OP) is a national disclosure program designed to provide greater transparency to the public about the financial relationships between applicable manufacturers and group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and health care providers (physicians, teaching hospitals) and advanced practice providers (new for 2021).

When a drug or medical device company makes payments or gives grants, gifts or other transfers of value, this information must be reported to CMS.

The reported data is published annually on the public Open Payments website openpaymentsdata.cms.gov.

As of January 2021, CMS Open Payments will start posting data on the publicly accessible website for APNs, PAs, RNs.
