Rush University Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics provide a stimulating and inspiring learning environment for our trainees to build the educational foundation for their development as regional and national leaders in their fields. Our students, residents, and fellows work side by side with our engaged faculty, learning through observation, collaboration, research, and practice. Our residents have become dedicated primary care pediatricians as well as specialists with careers at major hospitals and health care organizations.
As part of a university-based health care system, Rush University Children’s Hospital provides world-class, state of the art care to infants, children, and adolescents in our neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, general pediatrics unit, and outpatient clinics. Our experienced specialists provide a full range of pediatric care, from genetic testing and chronic care management to advanced treatments for rare and complex diseases. Our neonatal intensive care unit is one of the largest advanced care units in the state and our ambulatory clinics serve over 65,000 patients a year.
Our department prides itself on providing coordinated, family-centered care that recognizes that each family is unique and knows intimately the needs of their child. We fully integrate family members into decision-making to establish the best care plan for their children. We serve a diverse community and are committed to cultivating a respectful and inclusive environment. Our department is fully invested in promoting the growth of world-class research to stimulate discovery in child health through team-based innovative interdisciplinary research, including interdepartmental and nationwide multi-center research aimed at bringing research to the bedside.
