Each year the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association Board of Directors awards two College of Nursing alumni with the Distinguished Alumni Award and the newly created Excellence in Practice Award.
Congratulations to the 2022 Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Award Recipients. Recipients from 2020, 2021 and 2022 will be honored at All Alumni Weekend.
2022 Distinguished Alumni Award
Steven J. Brockman-Weber, DNP, RN, MSHSA, NEA-BC, FACHE, CENP (DNP '15)
Steven Brockman-Weber, DNP, RN, MSHSA, NEA-BC, FACHE, CENP, currently serves as the chief nursing officer of Ascension Texas and a regional hospital president. He is a senior nurse executive with 40 of experience. Brockman-Weber is known for his focus on quality and service outcomes, thanks to his strong clinical background. He has experience in community, academic and children’s health and is a dynamic leader with vision, organizational acumen and a record of accomplishments that show his ability to create relationships, produce results and create growth. Brockman-Weber has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to develop and execute strategic initiatives that create a culture conducive to providing high-quality patient care.
Brockman-Weber holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in systems leadership, a master’s degree in both nursing and health services administration, and undergraduate degrees in nursing and business administration. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and board certified in nursing administration through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Organization of Nursing Leaders.
Brockman-Weber holds a faculty appointment at RUSH University College of Nursing, where he teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. He also sits on the board of the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association and the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice and serves as chair of Cedar Park Regional Medical Center’s board of directors.
Becker’s Hospital Review recognized Brockman-Weber as one of the 66 chief nursing officers to know in 2022. In addition, he is Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Association’s distinguished alumni award recipient for 2022.
2022 Excellence in Practice Award Recipient
Alexandra Sophia Sontag, MSN, DNP, CNL, RN, APRN, FNP-BC (DNP '17)
Allie Sontag, MSN, DNP, CNL, RN, APRN, FNP-BC, is a program director with the CDC Foundation, supporting the expansion of the Office of School Health at the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Sontag is a Chicago native and Chicago Public Schools graduate. She has a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology and African diaspora and African history from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Sontag completed the Direct Entry Master’s in Nursing for Non-Nurses Program at RUSH University in 2013. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Her doctoral project focused on using motivational interviewing in a school-based health center.
Sontag worked as a nurse practitioner for Chicago Public Schools in the Office of Student Health and Wellness, first focusing on care coordination and then pivoting to COVID-19 response. Throughout the pandemic, Sontag supported policy and practice through contract tracing, guidance development and the creation and management of the district’s COVID testing program.
