Crain’s Honors Rush Cancer and Road Home Leaders

Head shots of Amina Ahmed, MD and Brian Klassen, PhD

Two Rush leaders are among Crain’s Chicago Business’ 39 Notable Leaders in Health Care for 2024.

Crain’s recognized Brian Klassen, PhD, director of the Road Home Program at Rush, and Amina Ahmed, MD, director of RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center, on a list of honorees who “demonstrate significant accomplishments within their industry.”

Ahmed, Crain’s noted, successfully directed establishment of RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center and “leads a partnership that provides Rush patients access to world-class cancer treatments and research.” Crain’s also mentions her efforts to increase minority participation in clinical research, screen cancer patients for social needs and address disparities in cancer outcomes.

Klassen leads a program that serves more than 2,000 veterans every year with treatments for PTSD and related conditions. He successfully navigated the Road Home Program through the COVID-19 pandemic by negotiating a safe return to in-person programming, Crain’s reported. Klassen is a clinical psychologist and faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush.
