"Dear future Residents,

Welcome to the Rush-Esperanza Family medicine program! We are thrilled to have you join our family medicine residency program here in Chicago, where we focus on providing exceptional care to our vibrant Latino community.

As Chief Residents, we understand that starting a new residency can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. Rest assured, you are in a place where learning and growth are at the heart of everything we do. Our center not only values clinical excellence but also emphasizes cultural competency and compassionate care—qualities that are especially crucial in our diverse patient population.

Throughout your residency, spanning three enriching years, you will have the opportunity to work alongside dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to your success. Whether it's navigating complex cases or learning about community health initiatives, every experience here is designed to deepen your medical knowledge and make a meaningful impact on our patients' lives.

We encourage you to embrace every learning opportunity and to ask questions freely. This is a place where curiosity is celebrated and where your contributions, no matter how small they may seem, are valued. Together, we will work to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care, regardless of background or circumstance.

Beyond the clinical setting, we hope you take time to explore and appreciate the vibrant culture of Chicago's southside neighborhoods and all they have to offer. Understanding our patients' cultural backgrounds enhances our ability to provide personalized care and strengthens the bonds within our community.

We look forward to getting to know each of you and to supporting you throughout these enriching three years. Together, let's make this a period of significant growth, compassion, and impactful learning."

Warm regards,

Michael Garcia Alicea
