This is a family. A loving and quirky family. Each member is so different, but everyone comes together to form one unit.
Fellows have the opportunity to attend and present at the Annual American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Conference as well as the annual State of the Art Meeting . Registration fees are covered through Fellows in Training Scholarship provided through the ACR. In addition, the local Chicago Rheumatism Society hosts quarterly meetings and this is a great regional resource available the trainees to interact and learn from experts in the field from within Chicago as well as nationally. Our fellows also enjoy the incredible opportunity to interact and coauthor a paper with the invited guest faculty lecturers for the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology "Grand Rounds at RUSH" presentation.
All fellows during their second year of training participate in specialty clinics as part of their ambulatory training including: Lupus, Osteoporosis, Ultrasound, Scleroderma/Myositis and Pediatrics. The fellows also present at interdisciplinary conferences with Dermatology. Finally, the fellows have the opportunity to partake in patient educational activities including but not limited to Lupus Support Group (LEARN at RUSH), RUSH Annual Lupus Education Event, and Illinois wide Lupus events.
Other benefits for fellows include an on-campus health and fitness center with affordable yearly membership, opportunities as Doc of the House for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, discounted tickets to games at the United Center for the Chicago Bulls, 3 notaries on-site, and personalized white coats with fellow’s name and doctoral degree.
