RUSH University Medical Center was at the forefront of Chicago’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the strong leadership of the center and the pulmonary/critical care division, we were able to care for the most critically ill COVID-19 patients in the city. We have successfully extubated over 100 patients thus far which would not have been possible without our strong respiratory therapy department and phenomenal critical care nursing staff. In addition, our patients have been enrolled in several clinical trials for therapeutic agents and an awake proning study. The fellows of the division have been involved in every aspect of care and continue to be appreciated for their hard work.
