Pediatric Endocrinology Lecture Series
This bi-monthly series involves the faculty and fellows, and is based on the American Board of Pediatrics content specifications for the Pediatric Endocrinology Board Certificate Exam. Core subject areas include:

- Bone and Mineral Metabolism
- Reproductive Endocrinology
- Pituitary/Hypothalamus
- Growth
- Thyroid
- Research Methods
GME Core Curriculum
Fifteen module online curriculum developed by University of Illinois at Chicago's (UIC) office of Graduate Medical Education to provide residents and fellows with the information they will need in preparation of their joining the physician community. Topic highlights include:
- Biostatistics
- Scientific method
- Human subjects research – IRB, HIPAA, ethics, grant writing, abstract preparation, manuscript preparation
- End-of-life issues
- Life after fellowship – practice management, patient billing, etc.
Other Conferences
A particularly diverse variety of other conferences and didactic experiences are available to the fellow, a benefit of the combined, three-institution program. These include but are not limited to:
- Fellow-Led Case Reviews
- Journal Clubs
- Pediatric Grand Rounds
- Ethics Grand Rounds
- Evidence Based Medicine Conferences
- Morbidity and Mortality Conferences
- Research Presentations
Rotations
Outpatient Pediatric Endocrinology
Most of the fellowship training will take place in clinic. The outpatient clinics will be evenly divided between Rush and UIC clinic sites.
Inpatient Pediatric Endocrinology
Goals are to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team caring for inpatients, demonstrate the ability to perform a relevant history and physical examination, and understand the importance of discharge planning.
Research
Research training and experience will be obtained through mentoring by faculty with ongoing federally-funded research. The fellows are expected to complete additional training, such as an MPH or a Clinical Translational Research Certificate in CCTS. Fellows are expected to present and publish their research as part of their training and in order to be board-eligible.
