Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

The ACGME-accredited Interventional Cardiology fellowship at RUSH offers training in the most advanced cardiovascular interventional procedures.  Fellows will perform procedures in the cardiac catheterization labs at RUSH University Medical Center, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and RUSH Oak Park Hospital.  They will gain expert experience in:

  • Right and left heart catheterizations
  • Percutaneous coronary/peripheral interventions
  • Coronary microvascular testing
  • A variety of vascular closure devices
  • Chronic total occlusion (CTO) interventions
  • A variety of atherectomy devices (e.g. rotational, orbital, laser)
  • Mechanical circulatory support assisted PCI (e.g. Impella)
  • Pulmonary embolism interventions including a variety of thrombectomy and thrombolysis devices
  • CardioMEMS implanatation

RUSH prioritizes state-of-the-art technology and approaches to interventions with an important close relationship with industry partners to have early access to innovative devices.  Fellows will also be able to participate in single-center and multi-center clinical trials of new interventional cardiovascular treatments, devices, and drugs.

 

How to apply

Two fellowship positions are available. All applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited cardiovascular disease fellowship or its equivalent. International applicants are welcome, as we sponsor both J-1 and H1-B visas.

Applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service and must be received by January 31. Our program is listed as RUSH University Medical Center-IL.

If selected to interview, you will have the opportunity to meet key faculty members and tour RUSH at a scheduled time between February and April.
