The Adult Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship provides unparalleled clinical training and research opportunities. Our program's proud 35-year heritage is built on a commitment to developing orthopedic leaders of excellence. Based at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, our year-long training program also includes time at Elmhurst Hospital located about 15 miles west of the city.
In our program, you'll experience a wide range of reconstructive procedures in Rush’s busy orthopedic surgery department. As a tertiary care center, Rush addresses complex reconstructive problems and evaluates new techniques. The 6,000 procedures performed each year by ten surgeons include primary total hip and knee replacements as well as many complex revision procedures. This accelerated and diverse surgical caseload helps fellows build a strong foundation in joint replacement, complex primary and revision surgeries, partial knee replacement and hip resurfacing. Fellows also gain significant experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Clinical and basic science research is an equally important training component. With access to a rich clinical database of more than 30 years of data, you will produce at least one clinical paper for presentation and publication. Laboratory opportunities are vast and include a range of facilities and studies dedicated to gait, biomechanics, biomaterials and tissue engineering.
