Thank you for your interest in the Rush University Otolaryngology Residency Program. Our program continues a long tradition of training graduates with the highest skill level, critical independent decision-making skills, and a sincere commitment to the well-being of their patients. Our residents have five years of outstanding clinical training at Rush University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals including Lurie Children’s Hospital and Stroger Cook County Hospital. Residents also have the unique opportunity to complete specialized tracks (research, global health, PSQI, or leadership) without extension or interruption of training.
It is an exciting and inspiring time to be a part of Rush’s growing Department of Otolaryngology. We have a full complement of sub-specialty faculty dedicated to working with our resident team to provide the highest-quality care. The department’s clinical programs are at the leading edge of otolaryngology, including anterior and lateral skull base surgery, facial nerve reanimation, advanced head and neck oncologic care, hypoglossal nerve stimulation for OSA, a comprehensive pediatric upper aerodigestive clinic, and advanced ambulatory management of laryngotracheal disorders.
I am excited to be moving into the Program Director role after having been the Vice Chair and Director of Otorhinolaryngology research for the past six years at Rush. I have helped cultivate a robust research infrastructure within the department and I am thrilled to embark on a new core mission centered on training confident and skilled head and neck surgeons with well-rounded foundation in research, patient safety and quality improvement, and medical education. In addition to this core mission, I faithfully believe in recurring activities and resources that promote resident wellness and decrease burnout.
Residents who share Rush’s core values of innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence will thrive in our program. We promise state-of-the-art and innovative training grounded in the principles of quality patient care.
I would encourage you to consider scheduling an elective clerkship if you’d like to get a closer look at Rush otolaryngology.
