The 4th Annual Trainee Research Day (TRD) will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025. TRD is an event held each spring featuring oral and poster presentations; alumni panel discussions (new this year), and an award ceremony and reception. Rush Faculty will serve as judges for the oral presentations. In addition to highlighting trainee accomplishments, TRD allows colleagues to learn about the cutting-edge research occurring at Rush.

Abstract Submission
All trainees must submit their abstracts by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8 via this form. Before submission, it is recommended that the abstract guidelines be reviewed. Poster acceptances will be notified by early February.

- Only one abstract per presenting/first author will be accepted.
- Abstract should be written in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct format.
- Abstract body (combined fields) cannot exceed 350 words. Abstracts >350 words will be truncated.
Abstract Field Descriptions
Presenting Author: Enter presenting/first author’s name
Co-Authors: Enter the co-authors’ names in the order of contribution or in the order they should appear on the submitted abstract with the presenting/first author listed first.
Affiliation/Institution: List the institution name in parentheses next to the appropriate author. Example: Tom Jones (UIC); Mary Meyer (Loyola); and Lisa Silver (U of C0)
Title: Use a short, descriptive title.
Category: Select from the list provided.
Abstract Body: Cannot exceed 350 words. Abstracts >350 words will be truncated.
- Introduction: The introduction must briefly state the question, hypothesis, or objective.
- Outline the background for the problem being studied.
- Identify the problem.
- Why do we care about the problem?
- What scientific gap is the research filling?
- Define the question, hypothesis, or objective.
- Methods: Methods, including statistical techniques.
- A clear, concise description of the methods used including research design and statistical analysis.
- Human studies must note the approval of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and informed consent.
- Animal experiments must be approved by an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
- Results: Essential results, including data, sample size, and statistics.
- Data aligned with methodology and objectives.
- Must include at least preliminary data.
- Conclusions: Place results into context of previous knowledge or literature. Discuss results including limitations within the framework of stated question or hypothesis.
Case Reports (Introduction, Case Presentation, Conclusion)- Case Presentation: Include diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and follow-up.
Presenter Information
Oral Presentation Finalists
Oral presentation finalists will be selected by the colleges. Finalists will be judged by faculty. Final slides are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 24. More information to follow.
Poster Presenters
- All presenters are encouraged to follow the poster guidelines, as space is limited.
- Posters will need to be displayed between 3 - 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26.
- All presenters must stand by their poster during the Poster Presentation Session on Thursday, March 27 as follows:
- Odd poster numbers: 2 - 3 p.m.
- Even poster numbers: 3 - 4 p.m.

Preparing and Printing Posters at Quick Copy at RUSH
- Recommended poster template
- The maximum poster size is 45” x 45” as space is limited.
- Trainees are responsible for printing costs.
- Standard photo finish is $70.
- Canvas nylon is $80.
- The payment method is cash only.
- The deadline for printing requests is Wednesday, March 10.

- A 1/2 board will be allowed for each poster.
- The maximum poster size is 45” x 45”.
- Poster set-up is on Wednesday, March 27 between 3 - 5 p.m.
- Use the QR code on your poster card to register the poster.
- Posters should be on display on Thursday, March 27 between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
