President Robert S.D. Higgins, MD, MSHA, Named Notable Black Leader

Crain’s Chicago Business has named Robert S.D. Higgins, MD, MSHA to its 2024 list of “Notable Black Leaders,” which represents professionals from all industries who are leading the way toward change in Chicago.

Higgins joined Rush University as president and chief academic officer in April 2024. An internationally renowned heart and lung transplant surgeon, Higgins is working to invest in academic spaces and research, with projects like the RUSH to Progress pilot grant process, which allocates over $1 million to faculty research projects.

Higgins was one of more than 100 people recognized by Crain's as leaders who are “working to enrich their companies, our communities and our city.”
