Acting Dean’s Message to Rush Medical College Alumni: September 2024

Cynthia Brincat, MD, PhD, FACOG

As we embark on another exciting academic year, we warmly welcome our incoming and returning students to the vibrant community at Rush University. This time of year brings renewed energy and anticipation, and we look forward to a productive and fulfilling journey ahead.

To our alumni, we hope you had the chance to slow down this summer, take time to do the things you enjoy and spend meaningful moments with your loved ones. The medical profession is demanding, and it is crucial that we take care of ourselves so we can continue serving our communities with the dedication and compassion they deserve. Your ongoing commitment to this profession, even amid its challenges, is truly inspiring, and we are grateful for your continued connection to Rush University.

This September, we celebrated the incoming Class of 2028 with the White Coat Ceremony, a significant milestone that marks the beginning of a profound journey in the medical field. For many of us, it stirs memories of our own first steps into this noble profession. The ceremony represents dedication, resilience and commitment to serve others — values that are at the core of Rush University. We hope this event reminds you of the ideals and aspirations that guided you through your own journey.

We are incredibly grateful to the faculty, staff, and speakers who made the event so memorable. A special thank you goes out to the alumni who have consistently supported this event and the loved ones who traveled from near and far to be part of this important day.

Your commitment of time, resources and expertise in supporting the next generation of health care professionals is deeply appreciated. Your involvement — whether through mentoring, attending events or providing financial support — is truly invaluable.

Looking ahead, we’re excited about more of the events we have planned, bringing together all those invested in the Rush University community, especially our alumni. I look forward to connecting with many of you personally at these gatherings.

One such opportunity is on September 19, where we will have the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Robert S.D. Higgins, the fifth president of Rush University, to our community. I hope you will join fellow alumni and friends for this event. RSVP to join us in person or virtually.

Thank you for your continued support of Rush University. Your connection to our community continues to make a meaningful impact on our students and the growth of our institution.
