Graduate Medical Education (GME) is pleased to announce the schedule of activities for House Staff Appreciation Week 2024: February 19 – 23.
To celebrate RUSH trainees throughout the week, meals will be provided to residents and fellows throughout the week.
We have a full schedule of activities, including our first "Conversations and Connections" with Dr. Sclamberg at noon Monday, Feb. 19. Use this link to join remotely, or join us in person for pizza in the Main Lounge of Room 500. The full schedule of activities is below:
- Monday, 2/19: 7 a.m. — Breakfast from Room 500 in the House Staff Lounge.
- Monday, 2/19: Noon — "Conversations and Connections" with Dr. Sclamberg: Room 500 Main Lounge or remote via Webex. Pizza will be served in the Main Lounge.
- Tuesday, 2/20: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Massages (five-minute sessions) on a first-come, first-served basis in the Main Lounge of Room 500. A total of 72 spots are available.
- Tuesday, 2/20: 11:30 a.m. — Ice cream from Room 500 in the House Staff Lounge. Sponsored by RUSH Alumni Relations.
- Wednesday, 2/21, 11:30 a.m. — Lunch from Qdoba in 994 Armour Academic Facility.
- Thursday, 2/22: 11:30 a.m. — Smoothies for the first 250 people in the Searle Conference Center (Sippy Room, next to the Main Lounge).
- Thursday, 2/22: 5 to 6 p.m. — Yoga, 4th Floor Tower Quiet Area; free drop-in session with certified yoga instruction Andrea Leppert.
- Friday, 2/23: 7 a.m. — Breakfast from Catering Out the Box in the House Staff Lounge.
- Friday, 2/23: 5 to 8 p.m. — Park Tavern, 1645 W. Jackson Blvd., Banquet Room. The first 100 people will receive two free drink tickets and light appetizers. A Sip-N-Paint activity will be available for a group of 30 people.
GME staff, residents and fellows are also invited to join the RUSH Fitness Center at a discount. Stop by the Fitness Center from Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 24, and enjoy the following perks:
- Free one-day guest pass
- No enrollment fee
- No dues until March
“House Staff Appreciation Week is important because it provides Graduate Medical Education and the entire RUSH community the opportunity to celebrate our trainee physicians and their contribution to outstanding patient care,” says Mashonda Daniels, director of Graduate Medical Education at RUSH. “The RUSH GME team wants our trainees to know they are appreciated."
