Shannon O'Shea, MSN, RN, CNE, CNL is an Instructor in the Women, Children, and Family Nursing Department at Rush University College of Nursing. She received her MSN from Rush University, where she was selected as the first Women, Children, and Family Nursing Scholar. O'Shea's passion for women, children, and family nursing as well as nursing education was cultivated through the scholar program. Her clinical experience has been in women and children's health, including the NICU and Labor & Delivery.

O'Shea started her teaching journey by tutoring fellow nursing students, which blossomed into new opportunities such as precepting new nurses on her clinical unit and eventually returning to Rush as faculty. She now teaches Pathophysiology, where she blends her background in Molecular and Cellular Biology and nursing to teach the "why" behind biological processes and nursing practice. O'Shea is currently progressing through the PhD in Nursing Science Program at Rush University. She has the career goal of blending her teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice to improve the health of women and children.
