  • Alifiya Kapasi, PhD, is a research neuropathologist with the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center and an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology. Kapasi received her PhD in Neuroscience from The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship and Instructorship in Neuropathology at the RADC. Her areas of interest include neuropathology of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, cerebrovascular disease, brain aging, and cognition. She is actively involved in multiple translational research studies that use pathologic measures to advance research in clinical Alzheimer’s dementia and related disorders. She is also focused on utilizing digital technology to develop automated methods that aid rigorous quantification of neuropathologic measures. In addition to her research efforts, she provides a diagnostic neuropathology assessment for autopsied brains received from longitudinal clinical pathologic studies of aging, and is involved in various educational activities.
