Welcome to the Rush Department of Ophthalmology residency homepage. Our Department is dedicated to both outstanding resident education and state-of-the-art clinical care for our patients. We have over 35 faculty members who are actively involved in resident teaching. Each one of our faculty comes to the eye clinic with the sole purpose of resident education. We pride ourselves in the highest level of ophthalmic care for our patients. This includes the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in the clinic as well as the latest surgical equipment in the operating room. For example, we have the newest equipment for ocular ultrasound and OCT imaging in the clinic as well as cutting edge surgical equipment in our operating rooms including a Femtosecond laser and our 3-D heads-up display high definition operating microscope for use in both anterior and posterior segment surgeries. Our faculty covers all of the subspecialties within ophthalmology, including retina, cornea, glaucoma, neuro, oncology, plastics, pediatrics, uveitis, pathology and comprehensive/anterior segment. Many faculty are renowned leaders and teachers in ophthalmic societies locally, nationally and internationally. We have had multiple faculty members serve on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Here at the Rush Department of Ophthalmology, our mission is to train the next generation of ophthalmologists who will provide excellent care and become leaders in their field. We are extremely proud of our past residency graduates for their outstanding clinical skills and contributions. We hope that you will consider our training program so that you can join the proud and close family of Rush Ophthalmologists.
