Rotation Schedule

Clinical responsibilities and experience for fellows has various inpatient rotations. The time spent on each service will differ from year to year.

Below is a list of rotations that fellows rotate through each year.

Two Year Track

  • First Year Curriculum: The first year of fellowship is primarily a clinical year with rotations in: MICU, SICU, Community ICU, CICU, Radiology, Palliative, Ultrasound/Echocardiography. There are 2 dedicated research blocks which allow the fellow time to explore potential research opportunities/topics, meet with potential mentors, and begin to develop a research time line and plan prior to the start of second year. The fellow will complete 2 weeks of nights. There are 13 blocks in total.
  • Second Year Curriculum: Second year fellows will rotate through the various ICUs: MICU, SICU, NSICU, and Community ICU. Additionally, the fellow will complete an off-site Burn/Trauma rotation offered through Loyola University Medical Center. The fellow will complete 2 weeks of nights. Fellows will have 6 blocks (may be combined with other rotations) available for research endeavors. There are 13 blocks in total.
