The promotion of faculty at RUSH University is based on the University Rules for Governance and each college’s specific policies and procedures for faculty ranks and appointments and promotions. Please review the full process before proceeding to submit an appointment or promotion packet.
Each college has different times when their specific faculty council reviews appointment/promotion packets and determines who has been approved.
The RUSH Medical College Committee on Senior Faculty Appointments and Promotions (COSFAP) reviews faculty nominations for appointment or promotion to a senior faculty rank. In the medical college, appointment or promotion to a senior rank must first be approved by COSFAP before the packet is directed to the Faculty Council for final approval. To further understand the processes of COSFAP, view RMC COSFAP policies.
The RUSH Medical College Faculty Council (FC) is the Senior Representative body for the college; it reviews and approves all primary, joint, and non-primary appointments and promotions for all faculty within the college. All junior, joint, and all types of non-primary faculty appointments and promotions are reviewed and approved only by the Faculty Council.
